MANGYANS
Mangyan refers to the seven ethnolinguistic groups living in the
highlands of Mindoro as early as 600-700 years ago. In earlier times
the main source of livelihood of the Mangyans is shifting cultivation
but are now shifting to partial cultivation of cash crops.

Product Description:
The Hanunoo tribe of the Mangyan group is said to burn the design on
the surface of these bamboo betel nut container and after which the
surrounding bamboo material is stripped. Each container is made of two
pieces of hollow bamboo tube - body and lid. On the surface of the
bamboo, a poem is etched in ancient Mangyan script which usally
consists of ten syllables.
This set of betel nut container makes an interesting table display, jewelry container, and packaging item.
