B'LAANS
The B'laan lives in the southern portion of South Cotabato and
southeastern part of Davao del Sur. They can also be found on
Saranggani Island. B'laan practice slash and burn farming of rice, corn
tobacco, abaca, sweet potato and vegetables.

Product Description:
A Tabi is a highly patched tri-color tubeskirt worn by B'laans with
a dark spectrum of black or brown and red or ochre tones. It is also
known for its rare abaca warp ikat dyeing technique. The central patterns
are mostly zoomorphic inspired with an overall geometric pattern.
Tabis are gifts given by the girl's parents to the boy's parents in
a courting ceremony before marriage. It is made from abaca fibers and
tie dyed into exquisite designs. During the marriage ceremony an expensive
tabi material is spread out for the groom to walk on with some of his
male friends.
It is also an astonishing material for wall d'cor, curtain, mat, and
table runner.
