MAGUINDANAO
The name Maguindanao, which means "people of the flood plains" lives
along the Pulangi River in Maguindanao Province of Mindanao. The
Maguindanaons are skilled weavers and carvers. They expertly
manufacture brassware, trays, urns, and other ethic crops. They are
also known traders, farmers, and fisherfolks. However, their religious
belief prohibits them in putting animal and human figures in the arts
which made them develop the abstract form of representation in their
carving and textile products.
