MANGYAN
Mangyan refers to the seven ethnolinguistic groups living in the
highlands of Mindoro as early as 600-700 years ago. In earlier times
the main source of livelihood of the Mangyans is shifting cultivation
but are now shifting to partial cultivation of cash crops. The usual
clothing of the Mangyans is the ba-ag or loin cloth for the males and
ramit, an indigo dyed skirt and lambung or blouse for women. Women
traditionally weave textile for clothing and blankets and also weave
baskets which is considered as woman's job. Male Mangyans carves
handles and scabbards.
