Traditionally living in the vicinity of Lake Lanao in Lanao Del Sur in Mindanao, the Maranao, which means "lake people", are well known fisherfolks. They are also into rice, corn, durian, langka, mangoes, vegetables and other root crops. Maranao visual arts and crafts include mat, textile and basket weaving, carving of wood, animal horn, bamboo and stone, and metal casting.
