TIRURAY
The Tirurays are distinct ethnolinguistic group with clear proto
Malayan features. They are mostly found in Maguindanao and Sultan
Kudarat Provinces. The Tirurays have a solid structure as reflected by
their socio economic activities which include farming, hunting, fishing
and basket weaving. While many have adopted to political mainstream, a
high number of their population still believe and practice their
indigenous customs and rituals. Despite the much acculturation. The
Tirurays maintain a traditional culture of their own, characterize by
communal household, polygamy, an indigenous moral-legal system. They
are known for their craftmanship in basket weaving into two-toned
geometric design.
